As a cooperative, Big Horn Rural Electric Company follows the 7 Cooperative Principles. One of these principles is Concern for Community. Big Horn REA fulfills this principle in many ways....many ways which involve the youth of our communities. A few of these are:
Scholarships - please see the menu pull-down for more information and applications
Youth Leadership Camp (or "Energy Camp") - please use the pull-down menu for more information and applications
Youth Tour to Washington D.C. - those students who attend Youth Leadership Camp are eligible to apply for the Youth Tour to Washington D.C.
Fourth Grade Foresters Project - Each spring, Big Horn REA goes to those schools which are in our service territory and in conjuction with the Fourth Grade Foresters, present each 4th grader with a tree to plant. This project was started by the 4th Grade Foresters to encourage children to respect and honor Arbor Day. Big Horn REA uses this opportunity to teach these children about electrical safety - where to plant trees, not to climb trees that are in or near the power lines, etc.
Safety Demonstrations - At the request of a school, Big Horn REA employees will bring an electrical safety display to the school to teach children about proper safety around power lines.
