About the Scholarship

Big Horn Rural Electric Company and Basin Electric Power Cooperative is offering educational scholarships to recognize and encourage the continuing education of the cooperative’s memberstudents.  

For the year 2026, one $1,000 scholarship will be funded by Basin Electric Power Cooperative and several scholarships will be funded by Big Horn Rural Electric. 
 

Who Is Eligible? 

Applicants for the Basin Electric Power Cooperative and the Big Horn Rural Electric scholarships must be the dependent child of current members, or dependent children currently receiving electric service at their primary residence from Big Horn Rural Electric. The applicant must be a U.S. citizen and enrolled or planning to enroll as a full-time student in the 2026 Fall semester at any post-secondary accredited institution having at least a one-year degree program.  
 

How Are Recipients Selected? 

Awards are based on the following criteria: Transcripts, grade point average, educational and career goals, participation in school and community activities, SAT/ACT scores, and written recommendations.  A Big Horn Rural Electric Selection Committee will make the final selections.  
 

What Are the Recipients’ Obligations? 

Scholarship recipients must remain as full-time students during the semesters for which the scholarships are awarded.  
 

How Can I Apply? 

To apply, applicants must meet the required criteria and complete the application form.  Applications can be picked up at the office in Basin at 415 South St, on the website at www.bighornrea.com, or from the local high school’s guidance counselors.  Completed applications must be received no later than FEBRUARY 5, 2026 @5:00 PM.
