Report an Outage

  • Call: 800-564-2419
  • Please do not use Facebook or email to report outages or dangerous situations.

The following will be helpful to you should you experience an outage:

  1. Check all the breakers in your home and out at the meter pole in your yard. These breakers may trip due to overloading or for unknown reasons sometimes. These breakers are considered “past the meter” or on the member’s side and employees of Big Horn are not allowed to work on the member’s side of the meter.

  2. If you find all your breakers are on, please contact your neighbor or look to see if you can tell if they have power. This will help the linemen decide if they have an individual outage or a larger line outage.

  3. Call 1-800-564-2419 anytime day or night, and report your outage.

What to Tell the Operator

To help our crews track down the failure as quickly as possible, please have the following information ready when you call:

  • Account Holder's Name
  • Account Number or Service Address
  • Best Callback Phone Number
  • The exact time the power went out
  • Any details on the cause (e.g., "I heard a loud pop," "A tree branch fell onto the service drop," or "A vehicle hit a pole down the road.")

Keeping your lights on safely and reliably isn't just our job—it’s our primary focus. Because we know how much your daily life depends on consistent electricity, our crews work year-round to build, fortify, and maintain a resilient power grid.

We appreciate your patience and apologize for any inconveniences during outages.

Special Note for Mountain Service Members

Members who have service located on the mountain should anticipate longer-than-normal outage windows during severe weather.

Because lines wind through dense, rugged terrain, our repair process requires specific manual labor:

  • Crews frequently must patrol lines completely on foot deep into the forest to locate structural failure points.
  • Linemen must manually clear fallen timber from the spans using chainsaws before line construction and re-energization can begin.
  • Our Promise: The safety of our members and employees is paramount. Rest assured that we will make every effort to restore your power as safely and quickly as possible.
