Start Your Service with Big Horn REA

Welcome to the cooperative family! Whether you are building a new home, moving into an existing residence, or planning a major property improvement, we are here to ensure your transition is seamless. As a member-owner, you aren't just a customer; you are an essential part of a local, community-focused organization.

Below, you’ll find everything you need to establish your account and plan your next project.

Step 1: Apply for Membership

To receive electricity from Big Horn REA, every resident or business must first establish a membership. This application creates your account and registers you as a partial owner of the cooperative.

Please complete the fillable PDF application below, ensuring all pages are finished before printing. Once printed, please have your signature(s) notarized and return the original document to our office.

We will also need you to call our office at 800-564-2419 to make the arrangements for the transfer of the account into your name. We will need the address, the name the account is currently under (if possible), and who the owner is. At this time, we will also be able to give you your deposit amount, which should be included when you return your membership application.

Step 2: Planning New Services or Projects

We want to provide our members with the best service possible at all times. With this in mind, we would like to know if you have any upcoming projects, i.e., new irrigation, new home, grain bin dryer, etc., before you begin, so that we may all be assured there is adequate power for your new service.

Our Process:

  • Submit a Request: Complete our Project Planning Form to tell us about your needs.
  • On-Site Consultation: A cooperative representative will meet you on-site to determine the best path for your lines.
  • Cost Estimate & Payment: We will provide an estimate for the construction costs.
  • Construction: Once permits and payments are finalized, our crews will schedule the installation.
