At Big Horn Rural Electric Company, we are dedicated to helping our cooperative members save energy and money. In partnership with our power supplier, Tri-State Generation & Transmission, we offer robust Energy Efficiency Rebates on appliances, heating and cooling systems, and outdoor equipment.

Rebate Information

Rebate Eligibility Checklist

Before making your purchase, ensure your upgrade meets our standard qualification criteria:

  • Cooperative Membership: You must be an active member of Big Horn Rural Electric Company.
  • Service Location: The appliance or equipment must be installed in a property actively served by Big Horn REA.
  • Energy Star Certification: The equipment must be ENERGY STARĀ® certified or meet qualifying model guidelines. (Verify models at energystar.gov)
  • 90-Day Window: You must notify us and submit your rebate request within 90 days of the purchase date.
  • Proof of Purchase: You must provide a clear copy of the original receipt and documentation showing the item's model number.

What Qualifies for a Rebate?

How to Claim Your Rebate

  1. Purchase & Install: Buy your qualifying ENERGY STARĀ® appliance and keep your receipt and model number documentation handy.
  2. Submit Your Info: Give our office a call, email us, or drop off your paperwork. We will gather your basic account info and submit the formal rebate application to Tri-State on your behalf.
  3. Get Paid: Tri-State will process the request and send the baseline rebate to Big Horn REA. We will apply our 50% bonus match and mail a combined check directly to you!
