Safety Presentations

Bringing Electrical Safety to Life in Our Communities

At Big Horn Rural Electric Company, our commitment to safety goes far beyond maintaining the power lines. Driven by our core cooperative principles—Education, Training, and Information and Concern for Community—we provide free, highly engaging electrical safety presentations to educate, protect, and empower our members and neighbors.

Whether you want to teach young students to respect electricity or give first responders critical live-saving protocols, our team is ready to bring the classroom to life.

Our High-Voltage Safety Demonstrations

There is nothing quite like seeing the power of electricity up close to truly understand how to respect it. Our experienced co-op team brings specialized electrical safety equipment directly to your school, community center, or job site.

Through controlled, live-arc demonstrations, we show exactly what happens when everyday objects like ladders, tools, tree branches, or toys come into contact with overhead power lines. These hard-hitting visual lessons leave a lasting impression, equipping your group with the practical knowledge they need to stay safe around electrical infrastructure.

Tailored Safety Programs for Every Group

We customize our safety presentations to match the age, background, and specific needs of your audience:

  • Schools & Youth Groups
Perfect for elementary and middle school classrooms, 4-H clubs, and summer youth camps. We transform complex electrical concepts into fun, easy-to-understand safety rules. Students learn how to spot hazards at home, play safely outdoors, and understand the important role lineworkers play in the Big Horn Basin.

  • First Responders & Agricultural Workers
Customized safety briefings designed specifically for local fire departments, law enforcement, and farm/ranch workers. We cover critical, real-world protocols including:
    • Vehicle accident scenes involving downed power lines (how to safely exit or stay put).
    • Irrigation pipe handling and overhead line clearance.
    • Moving heavy farm machinery and augers near power poles.
    • Emergency line-contact procedures.

  • Civic & Community Organizations
From local homeowners' associations to civic clubs, we provide practical safety tips to keep your neighborhood secure. Topics include storm preparation, generator safety, seasonal landscaping rules, and how to safely navigate downed wires after a severe Wyoming storm.
